The game your working on looks a hell of a lot better than that cheap crap made for the original Sonic.exe story. If you've played An Ordinary Sonic Hack (one of the games Darkest Struggles is based on, which makes it that much more awesome of a story), you know that, unlike that game, it actually took the physics of the original game and turned it into a proper, enjoyable, yet still creepy, Sonic.exe-esque game. Too bad it was unfinished. The fact that you're basically going a step further from Ordinary Sonic and making a full-on ENTIRE (proper) game based off Darkest Struggles with the original physics is awesome! It's a nice parallel that the crappier original story got a crappy accompanying game, while the better, enhanced remake of the story is getting a better, enhanced remake(?) of the game. What I've seen so far looks amazing, and actually accurate to the story (unlike the original Sonic.exe game), and I can't wait to see the finished product! Keep up the good work!
